New statue for Fuengirola

A one metre tall statue of Isabella and Ferdinand will soon be adorning the plaza del antiguo Ayuntamiento, a commemoration of the fall of Fuengirola castle to the Christian forces on August 7th 1485.

Cheap ecological islands

Fuengirola has been a pioneer in the implementation of underground rubbish containers, or ‘ecological islands’ as they tend to be known and the Council is now managing to have them built at no cost to municipal coffers.

New vehicles for the municipal cleaning service

Fuengirola Council has started the process to acquire two new vehicles for the municipal cleaning services, these being a sweeper and a flusher. The cost is expected to be around €263,000.

Quake hits Fuengirola

At 23:55 on Sunday night, an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit the town of Fuengirola, although no-one appeared to notice. The epicentre was just southeast of the town at a depth of 53 kilometres.

Fatal fire in Fuengirola

A woman has died early this morning following a fire at here first floor home in calle Elías  Ramos, Fuengirola. The fire began at around 06:45. The deceased was the only occupant of the apartment and is thought to have died from smoke inhalation.

Fuengirola Summer Market

Starting on Friday July 19th and continuing until August 31st, there will be a weekly crafts market in the Yacimiento Romano- Finca del Secretario Park in Fuengirola from 19:00 until 00:00, the idea being to create employment and add to the entertainment possibilities. There will be around 50 stalls at this ‘Fuengirola Summer Market’ as it is being dubbed.

The number of cases of bogus gas inspectors is on the increase in Fuengirola as these individuals seek to take advantage of the elderly and unwary visitors during the summer months.

Man arrested for indecent exposure

A 25-year-old Moroccan national, on holiday in Fuengirola, has been arrested for an alleged crime of indecent exposure at the beach.

Summer cinema on the beach

This summer will once again see an outdoor cinema on the beach with films being shown on July 23rd and 30th and August 6th and 13th. It is all free, those attending just need to bring a towel or beach chair to sit on.
