Out and About on Boxing Day….

After the rains passed, the gale force winds stopped and the sun came out it was quite a nice Boxing Day. Evidence of damage though, one of the flag poles on El Chucho beach looking as though it had been ripped out.

Power outages….

There have been a number of power cuts in various parts of Nerja during the past few days, including several during Christmas Day evening. It has been a while since this has happened over the festive period. In the past, one drop of rain and widespread blackouts were a ‘given’ over Christmas and New Year.

Out and About December 23rd 2013….

There is a new ceramics shop on the corner of calle El Barrio and avenida Castilla Perez, next door to the E-Cigarette shop. Looks like it has some good stuff in there.

Cycle race cancelled?…

It is rumoured that the cycle marathon on Sunday has been cancelled due to the works being carried out on a 200 metre stretch of El Playazo beach – the race is 63 kilometres! The announcement has disappeared from the municipal website, so assume the rumour to be true.

Calle Chaparil December 13th 2013…

The roadworks in calle Chaparil now stretch all the way up to calle Jaén, little bridges providing access to the various businesses on the street. There are still a couple of months to go before the scheduled completion of this stretch of the road, the works having started on October 14th 2013.

Supersol open this coming Sunday…

The Supersol supermarket at the junction of calle Antonio Ferrandis ‘Chanquete’ and calle San Miguel at the western end of town will be open on Sunday December 8th from 09:00 to 22:00.

Let there be lights…

The Christmas lights are up in the centre of town, in calle Pintada and calle La Cruz. Anyone else think they look like the bases of beds adorned with a string of lights? It was a comment I heard this evening and I would have to agree, it was my first thought too. Colourful, though.
