Rafael Nadal beat David Ferrer 7-6 (7-1) 7-5 in two hours 40 minutes to win a seventh Barcelona Open title and becomes the first man in the Open era to capture two ATP events at least seven times. A week ago he won his eighth Monte-Carlo Masters.

Four dead in fire in Barcelona

Four young Rumanians have died in a fire in calle Bilbao in the Poblenou district of Barcelona. The identities of the victims is not yet known.

Police in Santa Coloma de Gramenet investigating death of 38 year old man

The Catalan police are investigating the death this morning of 38 year old Kashem O, a Bangladesh national, whose body was found in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona. The body showed obvious signs of violence and is the fifth violent death in the region in the past week.

Seven year old girl dies in fire in Barcelona

A seven year old girl died and several people were injured, three of them seriously, in a fire in an apartment block in calle de l’Avet in Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona.
