Sunday July 11th is the annual Reunión Motera in Colmenar with around 300 bikers expected to take part. The meeting point is the municipal swimming pool and there will be a trek through the Montes de Málaga followed by lunch and entertainment.
Keeping fit in Colmenar
Colmenar has a new fitness park for senior citizens in the Lomas de Olivar area of the town. Parque de los Abuelos, as it is called, has seven exercise machines and meets all the safety requirements such as a rubber floor surface and access for the disabled.
A-356 between Colmenar and Riogordo still closed
The A-356 between Colmenar and Riogordo, closed since February 5th due to damage caused by storms, was due to reopen today but this has now been postponed until next week as the repair works are not yet finished.
Improvements to Virgen de la Candelaria school in Colmenar
Colmenar Council has decided to spend the vast majority of the funds available under the Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability (FEESL) to make improvements to the Virgen de la Candelaria infant and primary school.
Colmenar Council organises ski course
The Department of Youth in Colmenar, in association with the youth organisation Lantejas, is organising a skiing course in the Sierra Nevada ski resort aimed particularly at young people.
Stretch of A-356 closed until March
The A-356 from Casabermeja to Vélez-Málaga between km 19.500 and 18.500 is now closed and will remain closed until March 7th while repairs are being carried out.
New mortuary for Colmenar
The regional government delegate in Málaga, María Gámez, has signed an agreement with the Mayor of Colmenar, Pedro Fernández, for the construction of a mortuary.
Fire in Colmenar
A fire on Sunday afternoon destroyed one hectare of agricultural land near Colmenar. The fire began at around 14:00 on Sunday afternoon on a disused plot of land in the Paraje Tajo Solano. It took 25 firefighters with helicopter support to extinguish the blaze.
Día de la Pipa in Colmenar
As part of the XV Cultural Week in Colmenar, Saturday May 2nd has been designated ‘Día de la Pipa’. There will be music, dancing and games and the Council will be supplying paella and noodles.

The Mayor of Colmenar, Pedro Fernández (PSOE), and a former municipal architect are amongst the latest public officials to be charged with corruption relating to city planning violations.
