The recent Acuatlón on El Playazo beach – 2.5 km run, 1 km swim, 2.5 km run – attracted 180 entries, 148 male and 32 female. The results were as follows:
Dead dolphin washed up on El Playazo beach
A dead dolphin in an advanced state of decomposition was washed up on El Playazo beach on Wednesday afternoon. It was an adult, almost two metres in length and weighing eighty kilos.
Triathlon at el Playazo beach on Sunday
There is a Triathlon – 2.5 km race, 1 km swim, 2.5km race – on El Playazo beach on Sunday August 14th starting at 10:00 and with up to 200 competitors.
Up, up and away…
Today is nice and sunny, clear skies, but yesterday was a bit on the windy side, especially down at the beach. Great for the kite surfers, though. No less than seven of them flying around down on El Playazo beach.
Merendero Pepe Mesa
Merendero Pepe Mesa has replaced Chiringuito El Breine down on El Playazo beach. It still has a very large terrace, ample room inside and has its own parking area. Quite a few people enjoying lunch there yesterday.
Body found on El Playazo beach
The badly decomposed body of a middle-aged man, possibly North African, was found on El Playazo beach on Tuesday.

Renovation work is currently going on down at what was Chiringuito ‘El Breine’ on El Playazo beach, the restaurant having been closed for a few weeks now.
Marina project being discussed again
The Department of Infrastructure at the Nerja Town Hall has prepared a technical report to demonstrate that pedestrian and road access to the marina is viable.
Petanca tournament
Nerja plays host to the I Torneo Nacional de Petanca Provincial de Málaga on November 27th and 28th starting at 10:00 each day. The location for the tournament is El Playazo beach.
Drugs haul on El Playazo beach
Guardia Civil officers have arrested two local residents for their alleged involvement in bringing ashore 54 bales of hashish, weighing 1,200 kilos, on El Playazo beach. One of the youths has already been remanded in custody, the other has been released on bail.
