Luis Aragones dies at the age of 75 years

Former national team coach Luis Aragones has died in Madrid at the age of 75 years. Aragones led Spain to their first major international in the 2008 European Championships.

Foul play suspected for some reason

Four teams involved in play-off matches in Nigeria have been suspended after scores of 79-0 and 67-0. Plateau United Feeders were 79-0 victors over Akurba FC while Police Machine FC demolished Bubayaro FC 67-0, with an exciting total of 133 goals in the second halves of the respective matches. The results meant that Plateau edged above Police Machine on goal difference.

Santa Cruz and Weligton were on target for the Blue and Whites as they beat Getafe 2-1 on Sunday, Valera scoring for the visitors. Málaga are still looking for a top six finish, hoping that their European ban will be overturned now that their finances are more in order.

Athletic Bilbao took the lead against Barcelona through Susaeta and that’s the way it stayed until midway through the second half when Messi and Alexis struck in quick succession.

Valencia 2-1 Valladolid

Atlético Madrid look pretty secure in third place in La Liga, a good job as they could only draw 0-0 in their local derby against Getafe on Sunday. Valencia are fifth and only two points behind Real Sociedad after a 2-1 win against Valladolid.

Real Sociedad 4-2 Málaga

Real Sociedad look like they are beginning to take a firm grip on fourth place in La Liga after a 4-2 win over Málaga on Saturday.

Back to business in La Liga

Málaga are back up to fifth in La Liga following a 1-3 win at Rayo Vallecano, although they could slip down again if Valencia beat Atlético Madrid on Sunday. Weligton, Baptista and Pedro Morales were on target for the Blue and Whites, Piti converting a penalty for Rayo.
