The access road to Fuente del Esparto and El Pinarillo will remain open this summer once the contract has been awarded for the exploitation of the Casa de los Mineros and the snack bar at El Pinarillo. Normally, due to fire prevention, the area is closed to motorised vehicles between June 15th and October 15th.
Work starts on rural hostel at Fuente del Esparto
Construction has started to finish off the old miners’ houses (casas de los mineros) in Fuente del Esparto, the work being carried out by the local company Antelo.
Incidents in the hills
The Sierra Almijara in Nerja is considered one of the great natural areas in the province and the authorities have slowly been trying to make it more attractive for tourists. The Fuente del Esparto recreation area, opened more than a decade ago, was one initiative aimed at tourism.
