Guardia Civil officers deployed to combat rural thefts

The Ministry of Interior has deployed, with immediate effect, 275 Guardia Civil officers to serve in 55 teams dedicated solely to combating rural thefts, which last year amounted to 15,234 offences.

Longer active service possibility for police officers

The Council of Ministers has approved a new decree which will allow members of the National Police and Guardia Civil to remain in active service until the age of 65 years if they so desire. The option is voluntary and does not change the current situation whereby officers can go to ‘reserve status’ from the age of 60 years.
