New inauguration date for Málaga Metro is July 30th 2014

The official inauguration of the Málagqa Metro, originally scheduled for this weekend and then expected to take place next week will now happen on July 30th 2014, according to the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Elena Cortés.

Málaga Metro inauguration delayed

The official inauguration of the Málaga Metro, due to take place next Saturday, has been postponed, probably until the next week although no specific date has been announced.

Guided tours of the Malaga Metro

On Sunday, groups of around 30 people were taken on 20 minute guided tours of the new metro in Málaga, with the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Rafael Rodríguez, and the Mayor, Francisco de la Torre, in attendance

Metro will be underground to Alameda

The Junta de Andalucia and Málaga City Council have reportedly reached agreement that the Metro will be underground to Alameda Principal on a level with the Atarazanas market.

€448 million destined for metro and tram systems in Andalucia in 2013

The Junta de Andalucia may not be able to pay its current outstanding debts to educational establishments, charitable organisations, municipal corporations and companies or suppliers, but it proposing to spend €448.6 million on the metros in Sevilla, Málaga and Granada and the tram system in the Bahía de Cádiz.

More cutbacks on the Madrid Metro

Metro Madrid has announced plans to reduce services on all lines of the network by 50 percent after 11pm. The company also announced earlier this year that it is considering bringing forward the shut-down of the metro to 12am from 2am four nights a week from Sunday to Wednesday.

Blow to Málaga metro project

The Junta de Andalucia has decided to suspend indefinitely any further work on the section of the metro system between Alameda and Plaza de la Marina, the Parque and La Malagueta, citing a lack of funds as the reason for this action.

Accident at Metro works in Málaga

Three workers were injured on Tuesday evening in Málaga after an accident at the Metro works between the José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace and the Carrefour compound.
