July plenary session

The regular plenary session of the Nerja Council for the month of July, held on August 14th, saw the approval of all presented motions.

Unanimity in the plenary session

All political parties in Nerja, PP, IU and PSOE, approved the latest motion rejecting the idea of prospecting for oil and gas off the coast of Andalucia. Several large energy companies are currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism to begin prospecting.

Call for responsibility

The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has called upon all parties to act responsibly, abide by the rules and play the game at Council meetings after he expelled PSOE member Luis Peña for constant and out of order interruptions.

Council agrees to congratulate Antonio Mercero

This week’s plenary session of the Council saw only 8 items discussed out of the 26 on the agenda, far less than normal. Five of the items were, however, unanimously approved by all parties.

Kindergarten news

The Opposition Socialist PSOE members walked out of the Council plenary session as a vote was about to be taken relating to a proposal to amend the statutes of the Nerja Caves Foundation to enable it to be brought under the control of Town Hall and the mayor, José Alberto Armijo.
