Renovation work has resumed in calle Almohalla in Archidona , specifically the final stretch which connects calle Piedrahita with calle Cenicero.

The tiles are now in place in calle El Barrio right up to cafeteria El Barrio, good news for the businesses and residents in the area. Much better being a pedestrianised street, easier to negotiate for all concerned.

Calle El Barrio will look good when the current works are finished, although it now looks like reverting to Plan A – completion up to the cafe El Barrio and the rest next year, especially if the completion date remains April.
Work to resume on calles Goya, Murillo and Velázquez
Work on calles Goya, Murillo and Velázquez is set to resume with a new contract being awarded for the completion of the works after the project was halted due to problems with the original contractor.

Roughly one-third of half of calle El Barrio has so far been surfaced with the red and grey marble tiles. It is currently very dusty in the area, even when the tiles are not actually being cut.
First paving stones laid
The first paving slabs have been laid in calle El Barrio at the Plaza Cavana end, a narrow corridor along the centre of the street. Still a long way to go with the rest of the street.

The works in calle El Barrio are progressing steadily, concrete being laid in the area near Plaza Cavana. Pedestrian access continues to be difficult and signs recommend avoiding the street and using calle Diputación as an alternative. However, such action would undoubtedly hit the local businesses even more.

Work is currently going on along about two-thirds of calle El Barrio, from Plaza Cavana to La Tahona bread shop. It can get very dusty, right into Plaza Cavana, when the grooves are being cut in the concrete. Noisy, too.

Calle El Barrio is now being dug up for the second time and will probably need to be dug up for a third time before the project is finished. According to our information, the road could be complete some time in April 2012.
