The start of a new school year is an expensive time for parents, more so during a financial crisis and when the Central Government budget for subsidies for books has been slashed by 80% in the past two years.
School text books in Andalucia to remain free
Despite the cuts, austerity measures and continuing financial crisis, school text books in Andalucia will continue to be free for primary and secondary school pupils up to the age of 16 years.
School books up by 3.8%
A new school year is just around the corner and textbooks are going to cost, on average, 3.8% more than they did last year. Nationwide, the average cost of books per pupil will be €115, although this does vary from region to region.
