Spanair goes bust

The last Spanair flight landed at Madrid at 22:00 on Friday night and at 02:00 this morning the company ceased trading and declared bankruptcy.

A time to remember

Various commemorative events are taking place throughout the country today, the first anniverasary of the tragic crash at Madrid’s Barajas airport in which 154 people lost their lives.

Workers from Spanair General Services in Palma have today begun strike action which will continue for an indefinite period.

Madrid airport tragedy, conflicting reports

As the investigation continues into the tragic crash of Spanair flight JK5022 at Madrid’s Barajas airport on August 20th in which 154 people lost their lives, media attention is currently focusing on whether the airline thought about changing planes just before the crash.

Funeral for crash victims postponed

To date, 130 of the 154 victims of the Madrid air crash on August 20th have been positively identified, mostly  through DNA testing.

Another Spanair incident

There was tension amongst the 158 passengers on board Spanair flight JK6621 yesterday after a ‘technical problem’ forced it to turn back after only 15 minutes in the air.
