Malaga reprieve announced by UEFA was ‘an error’

The good news for Malaga CF was short-lived after it turns out that the widely reported ‘reprieve’ for the club regarding European competition was an error due to the mis-translation of the UEFA report.

Nerja Council will approve a motion on Friday expressing ‘unconditional support’ for Málaga CF, rejecting as ‘unfair and unconscionable’ the sanctions imposed on the club by UEFA.

Malaga have been banned from European competition for at least one season because of unpaid bills. The suspension will not affect Málaga’s current Champions League campaign but covers any time in the next four seasons should they again qualify for Europe.
