Mango production in the Axarquia, which accounts for the vast majority of mangoes cultivated in Europe, is expected to achieve a new record this season with between 20 and 22 million kilos.
The commercial exploitation of the mango in the Axarquia began in the 1980’s and there are currently 3,400 hectares under cultivation and this is expanding at a rate of 200 hectares per year.
Last year’s mango production was very poor due to adverse weather conditions.
