Valencia lifted the Copa del Rey for the seventh time after a comfortable 3-1 victory over Getafe.
Valencia were always in control in the final of the Copa del Rey and came away as worthy winners. Mata opened the scoring after just four minutes with a glancing header and seven minutes later it was 2-0, Alexis heading the ball past the Getafe keeper from a Villa corner kick.
Just before half-time, Moretti was adjudged to have brought down Contra inside the area and Granero slotted the ball home from the spot to give Getafe a lifeline. But it wasn’t to be and in the 84th minute, Morientes virtually sealed things for Valencia with another headed goal.
