Waninkhof family request reopening of case

The family of Rocio Waninkhof, the Mijas teenager murdered in 1999, are requesting that the case be reopened in the light of new evidence.

Dolores Vazquez was originally tried and convicted of the murder of Rocio Waninkhof in October 1999. She spent several months in prison before being acquitted after Briton Tony King was arrested and admitted being involved in the killing. King is now serving his sentence for the murder of Rocio Waninkhof, as well as for the murder of another teenager, Sonia Carabantes.

Involved, and at one time a suspect, in early proceedings was another Briton, Robert Graham. The new evidence claims to implicate both Dolores Vazquez and Robert Graham in the murder of young Rocío.

The judge will now have to decide whether this ‘new evidence’ warrants the reopening of the case.
