Certain batches of frozen clams are in the process of being withdrawn from supermarkets following five cases of Hepatitis A in Valencia. The allegedly contaminated clams are from Peru and have been distributed throughout Spain, although there are no reports of the emergence of Hepatitis A cases anywhere else in the country.
As a precautionary measure, the health authorities recommend avoiding frozen (Peruvian) clams for the time being.
