A 16 year old girl is in hospital in Sevilla after being knocked down by a car which then plunged into the river Guadalquivir.
The incident happened in the early hours of the morning. A car, being driven at high speed, ploughed into a group of people near the Isla de La Cartuja. The girl was knocked into the water and the car, unable to stop, joined her.
The occupants managed to get out of the vehicle without assistance and were subsequently detained by the police. The girl was rescued by members of the Fire Brigade.
