The group Torraspapel is closing its two production sites in Algeciras (Cádiz) and Amorebieta (Vizcaya), a measure which will affect about 400 workers. The company is also planning a ‘restructuring’ of its site in Sarriá de Ter (Girona).
Torraspapel specialise in the production and distribution of paper, including specially coated paper, and blame the necessity for closures on both a worldwide crisis in the paper industry and the current economic situation.
The company is endeavouring to follow the legal steps required by such action, including negotiation with the legal representatives of Unions and workers in order to reach an adecuate agreement.
