New Civil War graves discovered in Torrox

The first conference relating to the Historical Memory held in Torrox at the weekend was attended by almost 200 people, many of them relatives of people who died during the Spanish Civil War.

The conference was also attended by historians, and the exchange of information between themselves and the relatives led to the surprising discovery of two new mass graves.

A plaque was placed on the largest of the two new graves with the text:

En reconocimiento moral a todas las personas que fueron víctimas de la Guerra Civil y posteriormente represaliadas por defender la Democracia y la libertad

In moral recognition of all those persons who were victims of the Civil War and subsequent reprisals for defending democracy and freedom.
