Work on Phase Two of the improvements to calle Carabeo are scheduled to begin before the end of this month!
Two companies, Antelo and Sardalla, have put in bids for the project and once these have been duly analysed, work can begin. The budget for Phase Two is €309,531. 58 and the project, which covers a 120 metre stretch of the street, includes the complete renovation of all infrastructure – lighting, drainage, new surface etc – and will follow exactly the same lines as Phase One.
The renovation works are being carried out during the winter months so as to avoid unnecessary inconvenience to vistors during the main tourist season. Phase One, of course, was due to be completed by last Easter, but wasn’t in fact finished until the summer. This time, completion is expected ‘before the summer’.
In total there are four phases to the renovation works with the entire project expected to be finished at some time during 2010. The end result will be a street similar in appearance to calle Pintada, with a single level and areas for loading and unloading.
