Cocaine hidden in plaster cast

A man arriving on a flight from Santiago in Chile to Barcelona was arrested upon arrival after his plaster cast for a broken leg was found to be made of pure cocaine.

He was also carrying a six pack and two hollowed out stools, all filled with cocaine. The man, a 66 year old Chilean, did have a broken leg and the police are investigating whether this was self induced to facilitate the drugs smuggling.

Police discovered the cocaine after spraying the cast with a chemical that turns bright blue when it comes into contact with the drug. In total, the man was carrying 4.5 kilos of cocaine. The Spanish police pay particular attention to flights arriving from South America.

The man was taken to hospital for an operation after x-rays showed he was suffering from an open fracture of the tibia and the fibula.
