Sixteen people, including a nursery school teacher and a soldier, have been detained in the latest operation against child pornography.
The arrests have occurred in Seville (2), Madrid (6), Barcelona (1), Girona (1), Alicante (2), Valencia (1), Palma de Mallorca (2) and Valladolid (1). In addition, another eight people have been charged in connection with the investigation.
Police officers raided 35 houses and seized three computers, 84 hard drives and over 400 CD’s and DVD’s containng a large amount of paedophile matierial which had been downloaded via the internet. The material showed the sexual abuse of children between the ages of 5 years and 10 years old.
The operation was carried out with the co-operation of the Polish police who had also detected the existence of the files in question. Investigators have also managed to identify connections with a dozen other European countries and Israel.
