The Council of Ministers has approved the preliminary report on the reform of the abortion law.
The reform of the abortion law provides for voluntary abortion up to 14 weeks into a pregnancy. The reform follows the basic recommendations made by the Ministry of Equal Opportunities.
Amongst the more controversial proposals under the new law is that girls between 16 years and 18 years will be allowed to have abortions without parental consent.
