Starting today and continuing until July 31st, motorcyclists in Andalucía, Extremadura and Murcia not wearing crash helmets will have their machines immobilised by the police.
Andalucía, Extremadura and Murcia are the three regions where the crash helmet is least used by motorcyclists. In some municipalities, as little as 43% of motorcyclists make used of helmets and this is a concern for the DGT.
Anyone stopped for not wearing a helmet will not be able to continue their journey and their machine will be immobilised until they produce, and wear, a helmet. Another part of the campaign is informativel, with TV and radio campaigns as well as safety lectures to drivers.
