Driving through the centre of Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar will become a little more complicated next week as numerous traffic diversions will come into operation.
Work is being started on projects funded under the ‘Plan Zapatero’ and, as a result, there will be diversions and changes of traffic direction all over the place.
Work on avenida de Andalucía, the main road through Torre del Mar, will result in restrictions in La Calzada Sur between Duque de Ahumada and Paseo Larios and from Pasillo Batería to Gabarra. This in turn will mean that traffic heading from Málaga to Nerja will be diverted at the roundabout in avenida Toré Toré to the Paseo Marítimo or to the Hospital Comarcal, Vélez and the motorway.
The major change in Vélez-Málaga concerns works being carried out in calle La Carrera, with restricted access between the junction with calle Luis de Rute and Paseo Nuevo and Paseo Nuevo to Magdalena. Access to plaza de la Constitución will then be via plaza de las Carmelitas, Romero Pozo and Paseo Nuevo.
Work on the new Palace of Justice in calle Huerto Carrión will also result in a number of temporary changes. Calle Cruz Verde will become one-way between calle Fresca and Laureano Casquero and in Pasaje Eugenio Morales the traffic direction will be reversed.
Calle Eugenio Morales Jurado will become one-way between Huerto Carrión and Cruz Verde, calle Huerto Carriónwill become one-way from Arroyo del Mineral to Reñideros and calle Decano José Antonio Peláez will become one-way from Huerto Carrión to Laureano Casquero.
