As the summer season approaches, the Nerja Council has decided to take action to curb the ‘hippy settlements’ which tend to build up along the coast, particularly in coves around Maro and at the end of Burriana beach.
The Local Police are planning increased surveillance in such areas and have already started to dismantle some of the sexisting ettlements in the Lobo Marino area at the eastern end of Burriana beach.
The police are also taking statements from the ‘hippies’ in these areas. The majority tend to be foreigners of ‘no fixed abode’ and this apparently makes it difficult to actually issue fines for any offences committed.
