Normal service resumed following Madrid train crash

Normal service on the C-5  line between Laguna and Cuatro Vientos in Madrid was resumed at 18:30 following the early morning crash which left 58 people with minor injuries.

The crash occurred at 07:45 in the morning between the stations of Aluche and Fanjul. Eleven of the injured were taken to hospital for treatment but all were discharged later in the day. There were around 1,200 people on board the trains at the time of the incident.

RENFE and ADIF have launched an investigation into the crash. According to several witnesses, one of the trains, travelling in the direction of Móstoles, did not stop at Aluche station and, as a result, one of the passengers pulled the ‘Emergency’ cord.

The train then reversed back to the station where, unfortunately, a second train had actually stopped. Crunch.
