The Tranvia tram system was out of action for most of yesterday following problems with one of the power cables, cutting the electricity supply to the whole network.
At 08:00 on Monday, the tram system between Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar ground to a halt and the signs at the tram stops began showing: ‘Service temporarily suspended. Please use the buses’.
The problem was with the cabling in a 200 metre section of the line, but this affected the entire network and forced the suspension of the whole service. Only the day before, Sunday, technicians had conducted a routine maintenance check and had found no problems.
