Cases of domestic violence are becoming all too frequent these days, the latest fatality occuring in Granadilla de Abona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
A 37 year old Uruguayan national allegedly killed his wife and then committed suicide by throwing himself off a cliff in Granadilla de Abona.
The couple’s two children, aged 5 years and 7 years, had been left with neighbours along with a handwritten note asking them to inform the children that their parents had died in an accident. The neighbours called the police who began a search for the parents.
The man was found at the bottom of the cliffs along avenida Marítima in Los Abrigos. He had fallen about fifteen metres. At the family home, officers found the lifeless body of a woman, also a Uraguayan national, with all the signs pointing to a violent death.
There was apparently no history of earlier abuse or violence within the family.
