The Council is proposing to ask the Ministry of Culture to declare the Virgen de las Angustias convent a place of cultural interest (BIC – Bien de Interés Cultural), at the same time requesting a cooperation agreement for the further restoration of the building.
In proposing the motion, the Councillor for Education and Culture, Angélica Portillo, pointed out that work was carried out in 2005 to restore the frescoes in the convent and, at that time, technicians advised that further restoration work should be carried out. The project was completed with the assistance of the Junta de Andalucia.
