For the first time, the religious brotherhood ‘Cofradía de Jesús Resucitado y María Santísima de la Asunción’ has arranged for the release of two prisoners as part of the traditional Holy Week celebrations and both will take part in the Easter Sunday procession.
The release, a traditional occurrence, is agreed in conjunction with the Pastoral Penitenciaria. This year’s beneficiaries are 28 year old J.R., a Nerja resident, and 35 year old D.M.M., a resident of Málaga.
Both men are currently serving sentences for crimes against the public health, namely drug trafficking.
This is the fifth year that this particular brotherhood in Nerja has arranged for the release of prisoners.
