Around 500 people gathered outside the Town Hall in Lepe, Huelva, yesterday to protest at the death of 56 year old local resident Julia Madruga Benítez.
Julia Madruga Benítez, a mother of three children, died early yesterday morning after being stabbed by her former husband.
The gathering was in tribute to the murdered woman and was attended by members of the City Council including the Mayor, Manuel Andrés González. The Mayor, on behalf of the Council, expressed his absolute and categorical rejection of this brutal act of violence against women and offered condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of Julia.
