A 33 year old woman was killed at her home in Vic, Barcelona, all indications being that her husband was responsible for her death.
The husband, a 35 year old, tried to commit suicide, first by using a knife and then, after only managing to wound himself, by retiring to the garage and starting the engine of his car and poison himself with carbon monoxide and smoke. He is currently under observation and guard in hospital.
The woman appears to have been strangled but the exact cause of death will not be known until after an autopsy is carried out.
The couple, who had no children, had no previous record of domestic violence.
