Redevelopment of parking areas in calle Chaparil

The Council has approved a project to redevelop the parking areas along calle Chaparil and it is hoped to award the contract shortly so that the works can begin as soon as possible.

Part of the works, costing €155,000 and financed by the Council, will include the removal of the cork trees currently lining the street. This is something local residents have apparently been demanding for a long time. Where possible, the trees will be replaced by others that do not break the pavement or road edge.

This is being considered as a pilot scheme for increasing the number of parking spaces and making actual parking a lot easier and if successful, could be adopted in other areas of the town.

The completion period for the works has been set at two months.
