Four members of ETA, including one man thought to be involved in the shooting of a French Gendarme, have been detained by the French Police in collaboration with the Guardia Civil.
Three of the members were arrested in Bayonne, a few kilometres from the Spanish border, the fourth was detained in another French village.
One of the detainees is thought to be Arkaitz Agirregabiria, wanted in connection with the murder of a French Gendarme. Another is thought to be Mikel Kabikoitz Carrera Sarobe, military chief of ETA. The third detainee in Bayonne is believed to be Maite Aranalde.
In a small French village, police detained Benoit Aramendi, a known associate of ETA.
