A 33 year old man died and his two children, aged 3 years and 5 years, were injured in a fire at their home in Andújar, Jaén.
The fire occurred at around 15:30 on Thursday in the third floor apartment at number 44 Avenida de Granada in Andújar. The building was evacuated and the fire was eventually extinguished at 17:00.
The three injured people were transferred to the Hospital Alto Guadalquivir in Andújar where the father, suffering cardiopulmonary arrest and burns to most of his body, later died from his injuries.
The youngest child, aged three years, is now in the UCI at the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Sevilla and is suffering from first degree burns. The five year old remains under observation in the Hospital Alto Guadalquivir, his injuries not considered life-threatening.
Forensic experts are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
