Council says Minister of the Environment is misinformed or is being economical with the truth

Following the announcement by the Minister of Environment of the Junta de Andalucia, José Juan Díaz Trillo, that the contract for the sewage plant will be put out to tender ‘before the end of October’, the Nerja Councillor for Infrastructure, José Alberto Tomé, has called for the Junta to stop making promises they know they cannot fulfill.

According to the Councillor, the draft project was published in the Official Gazette on September 4th with a shortened 20 day period for objections.

Even if there are no objections to be studied, the document then has to go to Madrid for the Ministry of Environment to complete the various environmental reports, something which is likely to take at least three to four months.

Hence, says the Councillor, there is no way that the contract can be put out to tender before the end of October as was announced by José Juan Díaz Trillo.

Secondly, the Councillor added, the Junta knows that the cost of the plant is now €41 million and not €37.2 as announced.
