Yesterday, December 8th 2010, saw the creation of a new neighbourhood association, the Asociación de Vecinos de Las Protegidas, with an official ceremony at the iglesia de San Miguel attended by the Mayor of Nerja and a number of Councillors and members of various other groups in Nerja.
The board of this new association consists of Miguel Márquez, Mari Carmen González, Irene Nevado, Eugenia González, Ana Moreno, Silvia Ortega, Libio Herrero, Carmen Sabio, Raquel González and José Miguel Ortuño, the latter having been elected as president of the association.
The Mayor, José Alberto Armijo, presented José Miguel Ortuño with the insignia of the new association and agreed to hold a meeting with the new board in the near future.
