A total of 37 New Year arrivals are now in Motril after their small boat was intercepted near the Isla de Alborán by the Marine Rescue Service and Guardia Civil.
The passengers included a pregnant woman and an eight month old baby. The baby, her mother, a pregnant woman and a man suffering from hypothermia and shortness of breath after apparently falling in the water, were transferred by helicopter to Torrecárdenas hospital.
The boat was intercepted after a warning from the Moroccan authorities that a vessel had set off for Spain.
