Spanish court rules that Ryanair charges for printing boarding passes are illegal

A judge in Barcelona has ruled that Ryanair’s charges for printing out boarding passes at the airport is illegal.

Judge Barbara Maria Cordoba Ardao of the Commercial Court Number One in Barcelona has ruled that the company is breaking international law by imposing the levy.

Ryanair charges €40 for anyone who has checked in online but has forgotten to print out their boarding card.

The charge in Britain is £40. The Civil Aviation Authority has stated that the Spanish ruling would have to be upheld in the European courts before it could be enforced at British airports.

However, Ryanair intends to appeal the decision.
