The Ministry of Environment has ‘favourably received’ the new environmental impact study relating to the proposed waste treatment plant in Nerja, the next step being to actually put the contract for the sewage plant out to tender.
Several changes were required to the original project in order for it to pass muster, these being the laying of pipes overland instead of underwater just off Burriana beach, and the relocating of a pumping station at Burriana beach so that it does not infringe upon maritime-terrestrial land.
The proposed site of the plant remains in Fuente del Baden.
