Unemployment rises to 4,231,003

Unemployment in Spain rose by 3.2% in January 2011 and now stands at a record 4,231,003, the figures provided by the Public Employment Service, formerly INEM.

The Secretary of State for Employment, Mari Luz Rodríguez, acknowledged the figures as being ‘negative’, but pointed out that January is always a bad month for unemployment. There is always a ‘reason’.
