If you will not be in Nerja during the local elections on May 22nd or you are working or ill, you can apply to vote by post. You need to go to the Post Office in calle Cristo with your passport or identity card. Opening hours for the Post Office are Monday to Friday 08:30 – 14:30 and Saturday 09:00 – 13:00.

The Post Office will give you a form to fill in with your personal details together with a stamped envelope. This needs to be done before May 12th.

You will receive the voting information by post and you will need to show the postman your passport or identity card. The voting information includes the electoral paper slips with all the candidates so you can choose the list you wish to elect.

You will also receive a stamped envelope so you can return your vote. Please note that you can only vote for one political party, so you take one list of candidates and put it in the corresponding voting envelope. After, you put these documents inside the stamped envelope and post it back.

Tonight, in the grounds of San Miguel school, was the start of campaign for the PSOE. Angel Ramirez the candidate for mayor of Nerja made an impressive and emotional display of his affections for Nerja, he shares the same dreams with you and I for the future of this town, like him we want it to beat again, we need it to work again, we need to give hope to the youth, we need to progress, bring Nerja into the 21st century, programmes to care for the elderly, better relationships with associationes, businesses and town folk, he also mentioned his deep disappointment that after 16 years with P.P. in power the town has literally stood still, we all agreed with a thunderous applause. It even thundered from above, as the heavens threatened to open up. The invited guests of the evening as always were very enthusiastic and they obviously loved Nerja and its people and their support for the PSOE was whole hearted. To finish the evening , before the drinks and snacks on offer, we met the future candidates, we met the future of Nerja…………………Comments by……..Linda Maria Zima. PSOE.
