The fire in Ibiza, the biggest recorded on the island, has already destroyed 1,500 hectares of pine forest.
There have been no reported injuries or damage to property although 80 homes in a security zone around the tourist resorts of Portinatx and Cala de Sant Vicent have been evacuated.
The Sant Joan school has also been evacuated, not due to a threat from the fire itself but from being affected by smoke if the wind changes direction and for the tranquility of the parents of pupils at the school.
A 51 year old Argentinian beekeeper has been detained in connection with starting the blaze. He apparently accidentally started the fire when approaching one of the hives with a smoke device.

WHY isn’t everyone out yet? Family members are still waiting for a coach. Will they be able to get on C-733 ? It looks too clost to Sant Joan de Labritja where the fire started. Can anyone tell me where the fire is now? It’s not being reported on bbc news or google news….! Please help I’m worried sick and goodness knows how everyone in north ibiza feels!
