Awana Diab amazed fans by scoring what some are calling ‘the best penalty ever’ with a nifty back heel during a match between the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Diab ran up like any other spot-kick but moments before he was about to make contact he quickly spun and round took the penalty backwards. Diab’s celebrations were cut short, however, when he was booked for showboating and substituted by his manager, who had only brought him on three minutes earlier, for showing a ‘lack of respect’.
Disrespect? A bit of fun? He would certainly have looked an idiot if it hadn’t trickled into the net!
