A 50 year old man has died in Rafelbunyol, Valencia, after being repeatedly gored in the armpit and chest by a bull during local celebrations.
The incident occurred shortly after 19:00 at an event being run by the peña La Font in a closed area of the town.
The man had apparently been drinking and members of the peña tried several times to persuade him to leave the enclosed area for one of the safe areas but he refused. The man attracted the attention of the bull with an umbrella and was then attacked by the animal who pinned him against the wall and gored him repeatedly in the armpit and chest.
The man was treated by health officials and then transferred to hospital but he sufferred cardiorepiratory failure and died.
The remainder of the celebrations in the town were suspended after the incident.
