At 20:45, two masked men robbed a currency exchange office in avenida Castilla Perez, using a stun gun on one of the employees, an Argentinian woman, during the attack.
The incident was witnessed by many people in the area and the Guardia Civil were quickly on the scene.
The robbers fled the scene in a white BMW and witnesses were able to provide the registration number. The police set up check points around Nerja as well as in the neighbouring towns of Almuñécar, Torrox, Algarrobo and Vélez-Málaga.
The robbers, who got away with about €300 in mixed currencies, also left numerous traces at the exchange office which are now being analysed.
