Around 30 people had to be evacuated from their homes early this morning as a security measure after fire broke out at a bar on the ground floor of a five-storey block in calle Pintor Antonio, Vélez-Málaga.
The fire was reported at 05:20 by a number of people and residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The facade of the building contains much wood and this helped the spread of the flames and smoke.
The fire was extinguished and firemen attempted to clean up the facade of the building which had been blackened. The residents were later allowed to return to their homes.
There are no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire whose cause is as yet unknown.
